Disability Services Accommodation Process
Important Note: It is strongly recommended that incoming students (and returning Westmont students who are seeking accommodations for the first time) follow the ODS registration process a month in advance of the start of classes. Requests for accommodations will be accepted after this date and throughout the semester, but completed files will be processed according to the date received and there may be a delay in implementing accommodations. This registration process can take up to ten business days (or longer) if started during high volume times such as at the beginning of a semester.
Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, most meetings with students will be virtual. The steps for registration with ODS are detailed below. If you are a returning student who is already registered with ODS, you can access your AIM user profile by going to https://teton.accessiblelearning.com/Westmont/
How to request accommodations
Complete the New ODS Student Application (For students requesting meal plan or accommodations related to housing, please see specific information about the application process under Dietary and Housing Accommodations.)
Read through our Documentation Requirements webpage. Request appropriate professional(s) to complete and return disability documentation information to ODS.
Documentation must be current and comprehensive and must include the professional's signature, date and license number. Based on your condition, select the most appropriate form to obtain the needed information. Forms for many conditions are available for download and use by your licensed provider under Forms.
Completed documentation can be uploaded using the link provided after submitting your application. You can always request to have the link resent at any time. Documentation can also be sent to our confidential fax 805-565-7244 (which is being checked less frequently at this time) or emailed to email@example.com. We prefer scanned copies if sending via email. If documentation is not available, please contact us at firstname.lastname@example.org to discuss the situation.
3. Meet with the Director: After your application and documentation has been reviewed, you will be contacted through your Westmont email with instructions for setting up an appointment with Sheri Noble, the Director of Disability Services. It is during this interactive meeting that a determination regarding reasonable accommodations will be made.
4. If accommodations are approved, you will be emailed a formal Eligibility Letter and be directed to login to your ODS portal on AIM to sign several agreements. Once you have signed these agreements, your registration is complete.
If you will be receiving academic accommodations, you will be directed on how to request these on AIM. Once your requests are processed by our office, your instructors will be notified by email. NOTE: Your instructors will only be notified if you have requested accommodations for a particular course. Instructors will be made aware of your status as registered student with ODS, but will not be given information regarding the nature of your disability.
Already registered ODS students can request an appointment at any time using the Registered ODS Student portal. Although a meeting is not required for returning students to request academic accommodations, we are always happy to meet with you to discuss any concerns.
The ODS staff is available to answer questions and set up appointments. Our office is located upstairs in the Library, VL 311. We can be reached by calling 805-565-6135 or emailing email@example.com
