Student Spotlights
We come to Westmont from every walk of life. Each of us unique. All of us eager to learn from the others.
Leandra Marshall grew up on a Nevada hay farm along highway 50, the Loneliest Road in America. “The nearest town is 32 miles away,” she says. “We have no TV, no cell service, no neighbors."
Bethany Le began singing with her mom and playing music with her family in Carlsbad, Calif., at an early age. “It’s a big passion of mine,” she says. “It speaks to my soul.”
Josh Edmonson, a double major in chemistry and biology, says we can think of him as Mr. Science Guy. But the senior from Sunnyvale, Calif., sings in the college choir, takes part in the theater department’s Fringe Festival, writes novels, and practices a martial art.
Becky Collier, NAIA national champion in the outdoor heptathlon and a three-time All-American, says Westmont is pretty perfect. She gets elite athletic training at a Christian school with strong academics.
John Wong found classes challenging his first semester at Westmont. In a meeting with his academic adviser, the San Jose resident opened up.
Lalia Mangione chose Westmont instead of a music conservatory. “This was a place I could thrive, be motivated and encouraged to work harder,” she says. “My professors and peers genuinely appreciate me, not just my skills on the violin. I wanted to become a well-rounded person who could serve the world in many different spheres.”
