Student Spotlight Zach Walker

Zach Walker ’19 tries to surf at least three times a week. “Even if I make it out just once, I’m stoked,” says the kinesiology major from Valencia, Calif. “It’s such a gift to live close to one of the most consistent breaks in Santa Barbara.”

He volunteers with Young Life in high schools and Victory Sessions, a surfing ministry created by a Westmont alumnus. “If I can find a way to incorporate surfing, my faith and my education to help other people experience God’s glory, that’s THE goal,” he says. He also serves as resident assistant for first-year students.

Zach aspires to be an athletic trainer for professional surfers. “I’m studying physiology, exercise, biomechanics and nutrition to improve the health of athletes and surfers,” he says. “I love the idea of education and passion colliding.”
